The Ministry Of Camping

Last weekend a bunch of men came up from the Highway Church in Cornwall and went camping with me in the woods outside Maidstone. Besides the torrential downpour we experienced all day Friday and night, the weekend was  a wonderful time of building relationships and eating. Did I mention we were eating?

The focus was on sonship in the house and some younger leaders came over to be part of the event  and assist with the smooth running of all the parts that make a good outdoor event. Ok, so I'm not as prepared as I would like to be. I;m just a stickler for having thing organised and done properly. But the whole team superb and made the best of what we had and everyone had a super time.

There is something about men sitting around a fire and eating, fellowshipping, and being instructed in the principles of God's Kingdom. hearts were stirred to align with the Fathers will to be sons in the house rather than just slaves. We also had a clarifying discussion on husband and wife relationships that work. I will be doing some of this soon on audio for you.

Once we catch the vision of what it means to walk in sonship, we understand what it means to have real, true purpose, and the struggle ends for significance and acceptance. Rather there is a sense of 'family' that gives us a place of secure  freedom and love and acknowledgement we can never find as a slave in the house.

These times of impartation and challenge stir men (and women) to live at a new level and set a new standard for their spiritual walk and ministry.

Fear Of Man Is A Snare

Pro 29:25  The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe. 

Fear = care, X exceedingly, fear, quaking, trembling.

So often we skip over certain verses or passages of scripture because we don't really want to have to reflect on it, knowing its going to hit home and demand change. We often look at the Word for others and how they should change, but we find it hard for ourselves at times. This verse has been a difficult one to swallow.

Ministry in Cornwall

Thought I would give some feedback on our weekend in Penryn, Cornwall.

It was an amazing trip with one of the eldership couples from Jubilee Church in Maidstone. I was invited to do a leadership workshop at the relating church there, and to minister on Sunday. Its about a 7 hour drive down to the most southern part of England on the west side of the island.

We had a about 20-30 attendees, and I presented a 'taster' version of a VIP Day I do where I give the participants 5-6 exercises to do in discovering and working out a personal leadership strategic plan for their lives. 

Its a life altering process that challenges the limitations of thinking when it comes to a persons purpose and how they plan to live it out; deciding how you will influence your world through your purpose, and mapping out a roadmap to live out your purpose every day.

We had great feedback from the 4 sessions that I presented on Friday and Saturday.

Saturday afternoon we got to have a guided tour around Penryn and Falmouth, the town centres, beaches and marine parade. Being an exceptional weekend of sunshine and warm weather, made it a very enjoyable outing, more so because it reminded us of days in Cape Town South Africa. Michelle, Jesse and myself, stayed with the senior leadership couple of the Highway Church there, and enjoyed their wonderful hospitality.

Sunday morning I ministered a 'word' that the Lord gave me from John 5: 1-9.

Hopefully, they will send me a copy that I can post on the blog.

Basically, it was that in the house of kindness (Bethesda), the disabled are found 

weak in spirit - faith (the blind); 

in riches - poor (the lame); 

and destitute of authority, power, and dignity (the paralysed). 

But we have the word that says : 

if we use our faith, nothing will be impossible (Matt 17:19-20); 

as we give cheerfully, God makes all grace abound toward us that we having ALL sufficiency, in ALL things, at ALL times, may abound unto EVERY good work, having seed to sow and bread to eat (2 Cor 9:6-9); 

and Jesus told His disciples that He gives them (and us) power and authority to drive out devils, to cure diseases, and He thrust them out to preach the Kingdom and heal the sick / 

and 2 Cor 5:21 says that Jesus was made sin with our sin so we may be made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

When Jesus asked the man on his bed, there for a long time, if he wanted to be healed, he made an excuse that there was no one to help him. We always seem to come up with some excuse or another not to be moving in our purpose. 

The word 'want' means : do you desire pressing onto action and purpose? 

Jesus gives him the 'word': Get Up! or it could be translated 'Wake up!' 

He was an invalid, and that word means a condition of disadvantage, a state in which one is limited.

Jesus says he should wake up and take what was his limitation and move! 

Move in action, move in his purpose! 

We need to do the same. The world is waiting for us to step up to our kingdom purpose. 

Throw off the limitations, stand on the Word of God - God has sent His word to free us from all our limitations, and do not allow these limitations to continue to dictate your purpose.

God has brought you into His house of kindness in Christ Jesus. (Col 1:13) Surrounded and full of His grace - 5 (the number 5 represents grace) colonnades.

Don't sit around waiting for a 'man', a stirring of the water, or any other excuse. Its time wake up! Step up! And fulfil your purpose!

I enjoyed getting to teach and preach to a 'live' crowd, and see people get set free by the word of God. (Ministering to the blog I have to do by faith because I can't see any response to the teaching or get any feedback - although we should and do minister by faith all the time).

Great relationships and connections were made, and we enjoyed the time tremendously. 

Wow! Time to move in our purpose, I would think.

Raising The Standard For Men

It was a wonderful opportunity and exciting decision to host a men's encampment for the first time in a few years. We didn't make a big deal out of getting the word out, but mentioned it to a few friends and their friends. The guys who did come were exactly the right people for this first camp.
I sensed the theme would be 'Pathfinders'. Its a word that nearly gets over used for camps, but on this occasion I felt it had prophetic implication. We, as men, were to find the path for the way forward, we were to pave a way for a new generation of men who could, and would make a stand for righteousness.
There was a real sense of destiny and passion for the apostolic work among men and sons. We shared a 'braai' (barbecue), a rabbit potjie (pot stew) together and much more food than we needed while we spent time fellowshipping and shared hearts, struggles, dreams, desires, burdens, and God's Word on what He says to us as men and sons of God. This is what discipling and mentoring is about. The closer Jesus got to leaving, the more time He spent investing in the small group of men His Father had given Him.

Looking forward to the next, and many more, and the doors it will open to minister to equipping the next generation for the Fathers will.

Knowing And Understanding The Realm Of Spiritual Warfare

It's time to awake from the slumber, from the ignorance, from the apathy, from the indifference and become engaged, relevant and responsible.

So many do not have the faintest idea how the spiritual realm works and functions, or even acknowledging there is one that impacts and influences the natural realm we live in. But this is to our own peril. 

In this second part we are looking at scriptural instances of where and how and why spiritual warfare is necessary and beginning to look at what is our part. These are some instances we have to be aware of and understand what relevance it has to today. 

Jesus said we should occupy until He comes again. The word occupy means to do business, trade. Its a very market place word, meaning we need to take dominion and take and keep market share.Not have a fatalistic whatever will be will be attitude or a its always been this way before it will always be this way still mentality. 

No we need to have a sense of urgency regarding the hour and our place and purpose in this hour.

As we move into another year you can be sure this is not going to be another of the same. 

Cataclysmic shifts and changes are taking place that will indeed affect your and my life. There will be consequences and effects. Whole nations and lands and communities are to swept up in these changes and shifts.

But...

they are NOT necessarily physical or natural changes.

We are exploring what is happening and how it is happening through the understanding of the Word of God, but we will also discover and focus on what we need to know and do in the midst of these.

If you can catch a spiritual glimpse of what happens beyond the visible then you will understand and be clear on what you need to do about it.

Yes! Even you.

These teaching posts are going to be a little longer, but I am real excited about doing this series because it something I have had on my heart for some weeks now and I believe it is a word in season.

This year as I do every year, I wait on the Lord for a word for the new year, that will set the direction for the  rest of the year. This year the Lord spoke these things to me which I am of course sharing with you.
